Primary Purpose: The Design Director, Footwear is responsible for leading the concept, development and execution of product design in partnership with the SVP, RTW and Lifestyle Design. They partner with individuals within Kate Spade in Merchandising and Product Development teams to create product in line with seasonal direction.

• Develop and present concepts for all business channels.
• Create and develop sketches and product prototypes throughout the design process.
• Partner to refine seasonal concept, lasts, materials, hardware, and color palette.
• Work with key partners to ensure design and quality standards are met.
• Responsible for ensuring the design integrity is met throughout the entire product development process from concept through manufacturing, including overseeing fit from sample through pre-production.
• Actively participate in meetings with partners to ensure high quality execution of the product and creative vision.
• Ensure all design documentation for footwear are delivered to development partners on time
• Responsible for CADs for full line

• Ability to sketch both technical drawings and freeform sketches and renderings
• Experience in developing product directly with factories; understanding development from concept through manufacturing
• Experience in working with cross-functional teams

An outstanding professional will have...

• 10+ years of experience in footwear design with proven abilities

• Bachelor's degree in Design or Design related field preferred
